The constant presence of 4,000 armed British troops parading through the streets of a city of 15,000 colonial residents, inspired plenty of resentment.  Inevitable violent clashes between colonists & government agents ratcheted up the tension to a volatile level.

With the trampling of property rights, due process, restrictive mandates & imposing taxes without consent or representation, the colonists’ thirst for liberty grew with every brave act of their non-compliance.  The overreaching government responded by passing a string of laws to clamp down on the “rebellious spirit”…
